Multi-Purpose Woodscrews

A complete range of woodscrews suitable for timber, MDF, chipboard, plastic and thin sheet metal. Available in countersunk, double countersunk, pan head and reduced head profiles, stocked in the UK and available for next-day delivery.

One Screw for Every Application

A good quality woodscrew is the most frequently used fixing in any workshop, site van or toolbox. Whether the job is hanging a door, fitting kitchen units, assembling timber frames or fixing carcasses, the right head type, gauge and length determine how clean and secure the finished result will be. This collection brings together the head profiles and sizes most commonly specified by joiners, carpenters, shopfitters and self-builders throughout the UK.

Every screw in this range is manufactured to CE standard BS EN 14592:2008, finished in zinc and yellow for corrosion resistance, and lubricated for consistent drive performance across softwood, hardwood, MDF, chipboard, plastic and thin sheet metal. The 25 degree sharp point drives cleanly without pre-drilling in most materials, saving time on repetitive fixing tasks.

Woodscrews by Head Type

The head profile of a woodscrew determines the finished appearance of the fixing and the application it is best suited to. Selecting the correct head type avoids the need for additional preparation such as plugging, pelleting or filling around the fixing point. The three head profiles stocked in this collection cover the majority of joinery, carpentry and shopfitting applications.

Countersunk Woodscrews

The most widely used head profile in general joinery and carpentry. Countersunk woodscrews are designed to sit flush with or just below the material surface after driving, leaving a tidy finish that can be left as-is, filled or pelleted depending on the application. Available across the full range of gauges and lengths in this collection.

Double Countersunk Woodscrews

The double countersunk head features a secondary angle beneath the head that pulls cleanly into the material surface without lifting or tearing fibres around the fixing point. Our double countersunk woodscrews are particularly well suited to MDF, chipboard and dense hardwoods where a standard countersunk head can cause surface break-out if driven at speed.

Pan Head Screws for Wood

A pan head sits proud of the material surface after driving, making it the correct choice where a bearing surface is needed beneath the head, such as when fixing hardware, brackets, hinges and metal components to timber. Our pan head screws for wood deliver the same consistent drive performance as the countersunk range and are available in the gauges and lengths most commonly required for furniture and hardware fixing.

Reduced Head Countersunk Screws

The reduced head countersunk profile is specifically designed for applications where a standard countersunk head would be too wide for the fixing holes available. Piano hinges, narrow section hardware and fine joinery components all require a reduced head countersunk screw to achieve a flush, secure finish without the head protruding beyond the hinge leaf or hardware edge.

Classic, Velocity and C2 Strong-Fix

This collection includes three product lines from TIMCO, each suited to slightly different levels of performance requirement. The Classic range covers everyday joinery and general fixing tasks across the full head type selection. The Velocity range features a patented thread geometry designed for rapid installation with reduced drive resistance, making it the preferred choice for high-volume fixing on site. The C2 Strong-Fix range uses twin-cut technology and a dual-angle full thread for maximum pull-out strength, and is the recommended choice where holding force is critical, such as fixing hinges, brackets and load-bearing components in hardwood or dense sheet material.

All three lines are finished in zinc and yellow, driven with a PZ2 or PZ3 bit, and meet the same CE corrosion rating, making them directly interchangeable for most applications. The choice between them comes down to volume, speed and the holding strength required by the specific job.

Suitable Materials

Every woodscrew in this collection is designed to perform consistently across a wide range of materials without the need to change screw type between tasks. The sharp 25 degree point, lubricated shank and corrosion-resistant finish ensure clean entry and reliable holding in all of the following:

Softwood and hardwood timber, MDF, chipboard, plywood, plastic sheet and thin sheet metal. For structural timber connections, pergola frames and outdoor construction, our decking and timber screws are the more appropriate choice, as they carry a dedicated exterior green coating and are engineered for the additional pull-out loads associated with structural applications.

Zinc and Yellow Finish: All woodscrews in this collection carry a zinc and yellow coating rated to Corrosion Rating 2, suitable for use in occasionally damp or sheltered conditions. For permanent outdoor structural use or contact with pressure-treated timber, please refer to our exterior green decking and timber screws which carry a dedicated outdoor-grade coating.

Choosing the Correct Woodscrew

As a practical guide, the screw length should be approximately two and a half to three times the thickness of the material being fixed. For a 19mm board fixed to a timber substrate, a 50mm screw gives the recommended thread engagement without breaking through the back of the receiving piece. For MDF and chipboard, which have lower pull-out resistance than solid timber, erring towards a longer fixing or a coarser thread gauge will improve holding strength.

For fixing piano hinges and narrow hardware, reduced head countersunk screws are the correct choice, as a standard head will overhang the hinge leaf and prevent it from sitting flat against the timber. For bracket and hardware fixing where a bearing surface is needed beneath the head, pan head screws for wood are the appropriate profile. For all general joinery where a flush finish is required, countersunk woodscrews or double countersunk woodscrews are the standard choice.
